We are a father and daughter design team: Nic Kokas, located in South Surrey B.C. and Ananda Lazare, based in Victoria B.C. We collaborate on our projects and communicate on a daily basis. Most of our work is local to us, however, we have completed many projects throughout British Columbia. Specifically, on the Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast and the interior of B.C.  As well, we have worked internationally, in Oregon, Hawaii and overseas, in Japan and Korea.

Our approach to building design is “client oriented” in that we tailor every project to the specific needs and preferences of each client.  We are comfortable working in diverse styles, both traditional and contemporary, including Arts & Crafts, Craftsman, Prairie School & Modern.  Our focus is to present our clients with the best possible options, whatever the style, that is appropriate to the situation.

Nic Kokas:

Prior to turning to full-time building design in 1999, Nic worked as a builder, carpenter and cabinet-maker.  His twenty-five years of experience working on a wide variety of building projects has given him a thorough knowledge of techniques, details and process. This expertise is to the benefit of his clients. Nic's related interests include the history of art & architecture, traditional Japanese houses & gardens and alternative technology as applied to housing.
